This class will be held at the Mat-su Job Center - 877 W Commerical Drive, Wasilla, AK

This course is CPR/AED for the Healthcare provider which is taught using AHA standards for high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants. This is the 4-hour in-person format of this course, which is also offered in a blended format.

 

Cost: $95/student

This course includes everything teenagers need to know for safe and successful babysitting. From getting started with their business, to dealing with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips. Students will receive a Child and Babysitting Safety card, a CPR card, and a Child and Babysitting Safety book.

This course includes an in-depth look at the patient assessment, how to be better prepared and respond in a remote outdoor setting with limited resources and longer care times. We discuss the following topics, and more:

Students will recieve both a Wilderness First Aid certification as well as a CPR/AED certification.

The Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) training program is a 44 hour course (online and in-person) that covers the basics of emergency medical care. This course provides training in basic life support, such as splinting, bleeding control, CPR/AED, oxygen therapy, and patient assessment as well as patient assisted medication administration. Students will recieve an ETT and a BLS for healthcare providers certificate upon successful completion.

This is only the hands-on portion of the ETT course (16 hours). In order to participate in this course, you must first purchase and complete the online portion through Southeast Region EMS Council.

This course is open to ages 14 and older

COST: $300/student

This course includes the knowledge and techniques to help de-escalate in behavioral interactions that could potentially become agressive. This course includes discussion surrounding inter-personal relationships, how to build and maintain healthy relationships, and how to foster good communication. Included are Chapters 1 through 3 of the Mandt system, as well as Chapters 7 through 9 covering the physical skills, and how to perform them safely. The Relational portion is a blended course with online learning and an in-person test. The Technical portion is completely in-person.

The online Relational portion will be issued via email from the Mandt system. The online training must be completed by computer as the system does not support phone access.

Cost: $230/student, Includes both Relational and Technical 

This course is the blended learning option for HSI's Bloodborne Pathogen course . If you register for this course, you will need to call the office to schedule your in-person skills test after completing the online portion.
